OECDと東南アジア ― 戦略的優先地域として ~OECD and Southeast Asia – A Region of Strategic Priority~を開催しました

２０２５年６月２０日（金）、名古屋大学G30プログラムとの共催として、OECD（経済協力開発機構）東京事務所の上田所長より、OECDによる東南アジア地域への関与拡大についてご講演いただきました。本セミナーでは、同地域を戦略的優先地域と位置付ける同機構の取り組みが紹介され、特に、日本が主導的役割を果たして立ち上げに貢献した「東南アジア地域プログラム（SEARP）」の発足経緯と、この10年間の主要な成果について説明がありました。

また、インドネシアおよびタイのOECD加盟に向けた最近の動向についても解説があり、各国の加盟プロセスにおける課題や今後の展望が示されました。加えて、OECDのインド太平洋戦略や、ASEAN、JICAなどのパートナーとの連携体制についても触れられ、東南アジアにおける国際協力の枠組みが具体的に示されました。

講演の後半では、OECDにおけるインターンシップ制度および採用プログラムに関する情報提供も行われ、国際機関でのキャリアを志す学生にとって非常に有益な内容となりました。

質疑応答では、OECDと国連機関の役割の違いに関する質問もあり、参加者にとってOECDの東南アジア戦略や日本の貢献、さらには国際機関で働くための道筋について理解を深める貴重な機会となりました。

On Friday, June 20, 2025, in collaboration with Nagoya University’s G30 Program, we had the honor of welcoming Ms. UEDA, Director of the OECD Tokyo Centre, for a special lecture on the OECD’s expanding engagement in the Southeast Asia region.

In this seminar, Ms. Ueda introduced the OECD’s strategic initiatives targeting Southeast Asia, a region the organization has identified as a strategic priority. She especially focused on the launch and development of the Southeast Asia Regional Programme (SEARP), which was established with significant leadership and support from Japan. The lecture covered the background of SEARP's inception and highlighted its key achievements over the past ten years.

Ms. Ueda also provided updates on the recent developments concerning Indonesia and Thailand’s potential accession to the OECD. She outlined the challenges and future outlooks of their accession processes. In addition, the lecture touched upon the OECD’s Indo-Pacific strategy and its partnerships with ASEAN, JICA, and other organizations, giving a concrete picture of the international cooperation frameworks in the Southeast Asian context.

In the latter part of the session, information was shared on the OECD’s internship and recruitment programs, offering valuable insights for students aspiring to build a career in international organizations.

During the Q&A session, participants raised questions about the differences between the OECD and UN organizations, making this event a meaningful opportunity to deepen understanding of the OECD’s Southeast Asia strategy, Japan’s contributions, and career paths in international institutions.
